All 193 member nations of the UN General Assembly
— including the United States —
unanimously approved the
2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
and signed-on to carry out the achievement of these Goals as national priority
CVSA launched a nationwide COMMUNITY EDUCATION CAMPAIGN for the IMPLEMENTATION of the SDGs in February 2016 to involve all voluntary service & action organizations in making the 2030 SDGs a reality!
The UN Summit on Sustainable Development was held on September 25-27, 2015 at UN New York headquarters, convening
a record number of heads of state. All 193 nations unanimously adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and pledged their commitment to the new 2030 Agenda.
Titled “Transforming Our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” the agreement to implement the set of 17 Goals with 169 associated targets which are integrated and indivisible, came into effect on January 1, 2016.
The U.S. government has yet to formalize a planning body for the 2030 Agenda fos Susrtainable Development, nor an open and
participatory coordinating and ovrsight body for the achievement
of these 17 Goals in the U.S. It is up to us "the people" to mobilize and build the groundswell of demand for and involvement in making these Goals a reality in the U.S. and around the world!

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development calls on the people of all nations to hold their governments accountable to the implementation of these Goals and to work in solidarity with the people of the world through good faith international cooperation as called for in the document:
“All countries and all stakeholders, acting in collaborative partnership, will implement this plan. We are resolved to free the human race from the tyranny of poverty and want and to heal and secure our planet. We are determined to take the bold and transformative steps which are urgently needed to shift the world on to a sustainable and resilient path. As we embark on this collective journey, we pledge that no one will be left behind.”
The 35-page 2030 Agenda is the product of an unprecedented 3 year long transparent, participatory process that was inclusive of all nations, hundreds of nongovernmental organizations, grassroots social movements and others. CVSA looks forward to enabling more organizations of concerned people in the US to join the effort to reach these goals here in the US as well as around the world.

There has been no coverage in the US media explaining the 2030 Goals, and no public acknowledgement or discussion of the 17 universal Goals and how it applies to the U.S. by U.S. politicians.
The leadership and impetus for the implementation of the 2030 SDGs has to come from those of us “on the ground” who have been addressing these needs and problems for decades, and experiencing the lack of their implementation.
For this reason, CVSA launched a nationwide Community Education Campaign for the Implementation of the SDGs so that together we can keep our government accountable to this pledge.
CVSA filed a report on July 10, 2016 with the 2016 High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development about conditions in the U.S. in relation to the Goals and CVSA's work towards the implementation of the SDGs through our nationwide Community Education Campaign for the Implementation of the SDGs.

On June 16, 2017 CVSA filed a second report with the 2017 High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development about our contribution to the Implementation of the 2030 SDGs in the United States with a focus on our work to build an Enabling Environment for the 2030 Agenda in the United States, to “create ownership of the SDGs” at the community level and to inspire government to take steps to inform and build engagement of all stakeholders in the implementation of the Goals and targets in the United States, and to act in solidarity with all other nations struggling to implement the Goals.
